Eastern Visayas, or Region 8, is located in central east Philippines. It is composed of the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte and Biliran in Leyte island, and Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar in Samar Island.

The total land area of Eastern Visayas in 2,143,169 hectares, including 1,119,454 hectares (52.2%) of forest land.

Tacloban, the premier city of the region, has available daily flights to and from Manila or Cebu. From Tacloban City, other areas in the region can be reached by sea or land travel.
